Valve continues to actively develop their game Deadlock, rolling out regular updates that address both hero balancing and gameplay improvements. The October 2024 patch introduced numerous changes affecting game mechanics and character functionality.
Introduction of Ranked Mode
One of the major additions was the long-awaited ranked mode. Players can now compete in a structured format, progressing through 11 ranking medals, each with multiple levels. This mode supports solo queue only, ensuring that players rely on their individual skills. A minimum of 50 matches is required to access the ranked system
New Mechanics and Balance Changes
The October patch also introduced significant balance updates. Key objectives like Golden Statues and Heavy Camps now have revised spawn timings, opening up new strategic opportunities for teams aiming to control critical points on the map. Hero damage against lane guardians has also been adjusted, affecting early-game skirmishes
Hero Adjustments
Several heroes received important tweaks. Yamato saw changes to her “Shadow Transformation” ability, reducing its duration and resistance to bullets and spirits. These adjustments make her more vulnerable, requiring players to better manage her mobility
Other heroes, such as Bebop and Kelvin, were also rebalanced to reduce their dominance in matches. Valve actively monitors player feedback and match statistics to implement these necessary changes
Anti-Cheat and Interface Enhancements
Valve is also improving the anti-cheat system. Now, when cheating is detected, players are given the option to either immediately ban the cheater and end the match or turn them into a frog for the remainder of the game, after which they will still be banned. This adds a humorous twist to the fight against cheating while remaining effective
Additionally, new interface features were introduced, including per-player voice volume settings and enhanced ability casting modes, which now support different activation styles
Deadlock continues to evolve, offering players new features and refining gameplay. The October updates strengthened the game’s balance and made it more accessible to both new and veteran players alike.
